Powering Villages from Rice Husks
As the article put it, "Husk Power Systems ... uses a proprietary technology to gasify rice husks and generate three valuable products: electricity, waste ash that can be sold as an ingredient for cement and a reduction in carbon emissions." Someone Gets It: It's All About The Endowment
I've often said that my alma mater was a private, for-profit institution whose product is mating people with diplomas to get them to make money to get them to give back to said institution. This article via Atrios which provides a pretty similar comparison, using Harvard as an example, now that they have $42 BILLION in the kitty, all tax-free.
